Hot water heater thermostat

I recently hatched 8 of 15 eggs using a homemade incubator with a hot water heater thermostat.

Go to Home Depot, Lowes, True Value, or some other large hardware chain store. Ask for a 'single pole lower water heater thermostat'. Fend off any questions about whether you're sure THAT one went out on your heater, as those thermostats apparently rarely do go out.

A single-pole lower thermostat will have a knob to adjust the temperature (which may or may not have numbers on it, it may simply say 'warm, hot'), and 2 places to attach wires, labled '1' and '2'.

Here is the listing at the Home Depot website

Look at the picture on the left

You'll pay between $7.50-$10 for a new one.

I've put full instructions on how to wire the darned thing up, here:

Good luck!

I have another question why do you need the hot water heater thermostat I just need to more things so I can start building the hot water heater thermostat and the pc fan.

you mean where does it go or something else?

you wire it inline with the light bulb...the light provides the heat for the incubator, the t-stat controls the temp by turning the light on and off.

the fan should be running all the time, not controlled by the t-stat.

does that answer your question??

Sorry but when I click on the link to go to Home Depot's website tells me to check my spelling or it just not there. By the way just in case its not featured on the website what section in the store would I find the Hot water heater thermostat.

Thank You. You answerd my question perfectly now after I get the Hot water heater thermostat all I will need is a pc fan which I can not find anywhere. The old pc's I had I sold them at a garage sale a year ago so I've been looking around.

for a fan, I suggest that you just "drop-by" any computer repair place. They've probably got a ton of 'em... (used)...and MIGHT just even GIVE you one when you explain what your "project" is.

P.S. you might need to promise them a couple of dozen eggs or such! ha-ha!

Try a local junk yard for thermostat, lots of water heaters there.

Most PC fans are 5 or 12 volts DC. If you don't want something else sitting by your bator make sure you get a 110 AC fan.

Just food for thought.

you guys have PC World in the states or something similar? where would you go if you wanted to buy a new hard drive or some more RAM for your PC? go there, wherever that is. i picked up a brand new one for 3 euros.
