Mediterranean breeds should work well... Leghorn type.
But how cold is your cold? When I lived where summers were hot, My barred rock, RIR, and Easter Egger did just fine. Provide shade, sometimes frozen treats like peas, and frozen water bottles to cool off next to.
Our winters are not bad at all, coldest weather is around 25 degrees at night, and, probably for only a few days. Almost always have temperatures above freezing , often up into the 50-60 range. Your attached charts, and, breed selector tool are very helpful! I was going to buy some RIR from a friend, but, now I see that long very hot temperatures are challenges for them. Thank-you for your help!
I am in North Central Florida and I have three big hens that don't like 90+ temps.
I dug a hole in a shady spot and placed a basin in it. My well water is 72 degrees, year round.
The girls wade in there and it sucks the heat out of their legs.
I'm gonna dig a shallow trench and line it with vinyl from an old pool and entice the rest of the flock to get their feet wet.
It's much easier to have breeds that do better where you live, rather than struggling with critters who would be better off elsewhere. Here in Michigan, I avoid most breeds with big single combs, and love the 'fluffier' types. And Chanteclers work so well here!
