Hot weather nesting box

In your area you could grow runner beans on it. I love runner beans but can't grow them here in this climate. :(
I would love that! I am hesitant to do too much planting around the coop because i intend on installing a french drain. I had some pea seeds to grow microgreens to eat but planted them in a couple pots i keep outside of the coop. They took so maybe i can train them. I actually have deep shade right behind the coop. My brain is already thinking of ways to extend coop to incorporate that cool deep shade. You can feel the difference in the temp just standing at the edge of my 'jungle' lol

I think i remember you mentioning the runner beans when i posted a question about things to grow around coop. Lol

Hello chicken friends! My question is: is there anything to do to keep their nesting boxes cooler in the hot summer? I guess i can get a small fan? Its just much hotter in the nest boxes. Maybe they will lay elsewhere if its too hot? Thanks for any feedback. Always appreciated. 🐓❤️

In addition to put a shade cloth above the coop, I also use a few scrap plywood panels to lean against the box to shield the sun from the box. Just remove the panel when I need to get the eggs out! Lazy solution but easy!
