Hot wire question

We let our girls out in the back yard to roam while we are home and the dogs are in. Here is a question I'm a little (ok a lot) worried that if we leave the chickens in the run/coop and leave the dogs outside, while we are not home, that I'll come home to find that a dog has made its way into the run. We have talked about running a hot wire around the coop/run to make sure that doesn't happen. Here is the question that we have will the hot wire hurt the chickens. The last thing I want is fried chicken.

It won't fry them and a good idea. Chickens react very quickly.
I think most hot wires are PWM so they pulse and a bird won't be stuck.
