Houdan Roo????

I recently bought a roo from a local man, and I know this boy has some Houdan running through him.....but he has no Crest.

He has the fifth toe, and the black and white 'mottled' feathers, and his comb splits...reminds me of buttercup comb. BUT NO CREST!!!
My question is....does a houdan come without a crest or is he a cross?

I have to say, he takes care of his ladies.
