Hello and thank you for reading those of you that do.
I habe a 10 week old hen that lives in the house when she wants to. She was abandoned by her mom at 3 weeks an only chick out of 6 that survived. She is harassed by all the other chickens and was getting mauled, kicked out of the coop at night not allowed to eat etc. We have predators so leaving her alone was not an option.
For tje last 2 days she has hooe panting almost constantly. She eats just fine but won't drink if her own accord. While she sets next to me she gasps pants and has a wierd almost burping eminating from her throat she swallows and I can hear it. We have rubbed her throat and syringe fed her water. She has not slept for more than a minute or two at a time and she is hot not the room her.
I was thinking gape worm or a respiratory infection. Our vwt is gone thru Thanksgiving and I cant really afford another.
Any ideas???
I love this gal and sont want her to suffer. Thank you.

Thank you. She has a square metal crate bed with towels as bedding and a dark sheet on the top and sides with front wide open. It sits high up and she loves to perch there but when bedtime comes she snuggles next to my head. She may be getting hotter there I think so I have put a small fan blowing air just over our heads. Idk if this will keep her from breathing this way, we are just hoping for the best and putting garlic and apple cider vinegar in her water. No one else will drink it. I think it has helped. Thank you.
