House Duck Keepers?

Awww, allecia, it sounds like you and your scovy boy had such a good relationship in the beginning. It's always sad to see them change like that when things start out so perfect.....

Someone told me (it might have even been on this forum, I'm not sure) that Q looked like a female..... We've always just called "him" a boy, since we didn't know for sure.....

He's (guessing) 8-ish weeks old, and weighed in yesterday at 3.9 pounds.

What do you think?

I'm not an expert but he's BIG well he looks big anyways. I would say male. Just cause he looks kinda like young Mustard without his caruncles. I'm not even sure how much my duck weighs, when I pick him up he's awefully heavy.
Bigger than my yorkie.

and yes both ducks live outside with an entire backyard, a run, (which in duckworld apparently, it's optional to go in... I only make them go in there when it storms bad, we have bad tornado weather here in texas) and their own personal swimming pool. Which doesn't take long for them to destroy. I do go out there everyday but only because I'm trying to bond with the other duck. She's very afraid of people. So I sit with them every day, through a fence, (I'm not sure my feet/legs could take that kind of beating every day) and she's in the process of learning her name and is starting to come when called. Only a foot between us but that's better than the 6 foot difference before. I just don't want to freak her out when I'm doing things out there so I've been trying to get her used to me.

He feels big to me too, but I don't really know just how big to expect a male/female to be.

Guess it really doesn't matter. Even if I find out he's a she, it'd be awfully hard to get used to calling him "her" and I'd probably end up calling her a he anyways. (wow that was a confusing sentence lol)

I had a cockatiel that the breeder told me was female. After he molted and got his adult feathering, he was very much a boy. It was VERY difficult to get used to calling him a him instead of a her. Gender confusion all over this house!

Q went with me today to the newspaper to pay my bill. He rode shotgun, sitting nicely in the passenger seat on his blankie. He went in with me to greet his fan club (the woman that found him works at the paper) and sat nicely while everyone oogled over him. He's such a good boy.

My son, who started 4th grade on Tuesday, told the class (they were going around the room doing introductions, how many people in your family, do you have any pets, etc) that we have a pet duck. The teacher asked if he lived on a farm. LOL. He said No. Now THERES a first impression.

Yeah, I'm in highschool haha, so when I talk about my duck everyones just like... WHAT? It's like ducks are foreign to them. Everyone is so weirded out by it.

But I really hope the best for you, that it's not a male. My duck has officially lost house privaliges, he attacks me no matter what.

It's sad. I put so much time and effort into him and he just beats me up. There's nothing I can do though, (unless I get him fixed, or a muzzle).

I am taking in someones previous duck that was like mine, since they have to move. And she's never been in diapers before, a year old runner, so I'd like to try that out. They said they took her camping so she's aweful friendly. I'm quite excited.
