In the Brooder

So... As I posted previously, I have 4 adult ducks (1 drake, 3 hens) that I hand raised inside but all went to live outside in a pen inside a gated area just for them. They are all about 2 years old. This year, my Rouen and Cayuga went SUPER broody and had about 5 fertilized eggs between them but unfortunately, only one baby hatched and lived. But WOW is it a healthy baby :)

I pulled it and have been hand raising inside. Since he or she is a solo bird, we have been keeping it with us, someone is always hanging out with her, playing or letting it sleep on our lap... This little bird has REALLY taken to us.... Much much more than our others, as they were raised in pairs and always around other ducks. I take her to the "big duck pen" to try and socialize her and make sure she hears other duck vocalizations and all. My females will attack her so I can't let her run around with them yet, still a little too small. But regardless, she is just the happiest, healthiest little duck.

That all being said... I have worries about integration with her and my flock. She's out growing her brooder and does fine running around... Except for the little poops.

I fully understand the whole duck potty thing and never used the diapers I bought for the others because I felt like it would be pointless? Would I be rinsing a duck butt off all day and rediapering?

Has anyone been successful with using diapers on ducks?

Aww. Well my niece weezy convinced my mother to make her a chicken diaper so her favorite chicken white collar could stay in the house. My mother made it out of a baby toddler sock and yes love she was still rinsing but. As for the integrating into the flock since she's a female your drakes won't wait until she's of age. They will be idiots
