House ducks

The crazy idea of a house duck is appealing and I've found myself with an ophaned single mallard duckling (dumped in a box on my doorstep three days ago and looked to be only a day old at best)I haven't been able to find it a friend and it's already quite bonded with me.
I was hoping some of you with house ducks could share your experience bad and good, hints and tips with me.
Anyone know of a good place to get duck nappies that dont cost the earth?
Do you house your ducks outside or in a cage over night (what kind of cage)?
How to you keep meal time mess to a minimum?

(side note.... I'm expireanced in rasing chicks and ducks which is probably why it was dumped on my door step. I realise that rasing a lone duckling isn't ideal but unfortunately I couldn't find a duckling around the same age and and because I didn't know if it was pet stock or wild I didn't want to risk infections disease)

EEEE we got another one! <3 I'm sorry that the poor lil' guy got dumped on you, people make me so mad sometimes. Have you been to the house duck thread? All sorts of stories and advice over thar.

As for nappies, I highly recommend SewSammi (aka Kukupecpec here on BYC). Her duck diapers are the best quality, only cost about $25, and she ships them out within a week tops. The only other person who even comes close is Partyfowl, and her diapers are not only less sturdy or washable, but they cost about ten bucks more and she takes up to a month to finish and ship out the final product.
