Here in Ireland there is a housing order for all poultry. Starting on Monday.

I want to know if you guys think my setup is good enough.

I have 10 ducks.
I have them in an omlet (it’s a brand)
It is a big one (bought it as a catio but no longer need it as that so using it for the ducks)

Small birds can get in, it would be quite a squeeze (the wire wholes are not small enough) but I haven’t seen any, not that that means they aren’t getting in.

I have a roof on the pen, so no bird poo can go in from the top.

I remove the food every night to stop rats.

Anything else I should be doing?

All help is appreciated. Thanks

There's some guidelines in this pdf, and more if you click the link to the regulations at the end of the first paragraph.

Do they need you to tarp them in anyway?
So your not sure if they need to be tarpped??
I have had the tarp on them for awhile now to protect them from the storms (some of my ducks are a bit weak and need the extra protection even from rain)

That looks pretty good!
I’m glad you think so!

There's a roof but I'm wondering about the sides.
Got it. If you could cover the sides with even chicken wire then small birds couldn’t get in I’d think.
I could look into getting something? If you think it’s necessary. I don’t want to block sunlight that’s my main problem. If it didn’t matter about blocking sunlight I have plenty of tarps I could cover the entire thing but it would be very dark for them.

Thank you that is what I was looking for but couldn’t find it!

I don’t think I am doing to badly.

I just wanted to make sure you don't loose your birds from nosey people.
I’m not entirely sure what you mean but I will take it how I think you mean.
I am always worried that someone might steal them but we live in quite a rural area, and you can’t really see them from the road so I hope no one would take them. Fingers crossed, tapping wood, all the rest (I always say that if I think I might be tempting the fates)

The gaps are 2.5 cm by 7.5 cm
Are these gaps small enough not to be a problem?
