Housing for bird flu

Hi @Blue is my chicken how are your fowl doing? I have a question, how do u stop your ducks from making an absolute mess with their water? I have to clean out their coop every day as they make everywhere soaking. I had their water in a dish but they just dirtied it in 5 mins. Then I used a chicken drinker which was emptied in 2 minutes. I don't know when this flockdown will be lifted but my fowl are so sick of it.
Thanks

I don't have ducks but from what I've seen, they're just messy, messy creatures. They love to toss water around and walk in it and get it dirty and spill it everywhere. Interested to see if anyone has managed to keep their ducks from making a huge mess 😂

My duckies are doing well

Mine always have a dirty water by the time I am putting them to bed.
I clean it out every morning so they at least start the day with fresh water. If their water is clean by the evening I am worried as that means they haven’t played in it (and also haven’t dunk anything).

As for the emptying it, you just need to have a deep enough water. I use a cat litter tray for mine. Also I find that they will play like crazy and spill loads and make it dirty but then they will go play elsewhere and they will still have water to drink. I get that it is a bit muddy but they love mud and I personally can’t clean it out ten times a day it’s just not feasible for me.
This isn’t my permenant plan just for bird flu.

But maybe a hanging waterer will negate some of that?
The problem with this is ducks need to be able to dunk their entire head. Ducks dont have the ability to clean there eyes and noses of dirt without water. So they must always have access to water deep enough for them to dunk their heads.

That is very very true 😂
They are messy little buggers
