So this is the most unrelated topic I've ever posted but the head of the family has decided we may want to live in Texas? We don't have many acquaintances there but it sure is gorgeous and theres acreage for sale. So I suppose I just want to have what you guys find pros and con wise about TX and reasons one should or shouldn't live there. I'm sure I could transport my reptiles and pigeons just fine but not sure how the chickens would do :/ we took our whole flock on a two hour road trip when we moved to Anacortes but it's a day and a half drive and not sure how much but I'm sure transporting adult chickens is expensive by mail etc. But ive NEVER IN 10 Years of keeping rehomed any my birds sadly my oldest original girls passed away at 8 yrs :( but now we have all young Birds who I adore and don't want to give up....

Make sure you don't go through California since they are under quarantine because of Newcastle disease. Utah may be soon to follow.

You really should check on the import laws in your state of destination and the transportation laws of the states that you will be passing through so that you can make sure that you have the proper tests done and the required paperwork. Yes there are many people who have illegally transported poultry and other animals across state lines but if you get caught you will be subject to fines and confiscation of your poultry and you will end up in Federal court, not in front of a local justice of the peace.

@JB8907 haha its funny cause one of our friends who lives there mother has called it the exact same thing in conversation :D smart woman I guess! On the other hand now I need to math the cost of getting all my birds vaccinated and papered...it's a few hundred for 6 birds :'( but id rather pay than leave them!
