So I have an older hova-bator incubator that was given to me sometime ago, and I've been thinking about hatching out some eggs in it, but I don't have any directions on using it. It has two long squarish channels in the bottom and a small circular compartment in the bottom as well. I'm not sure what one of these to add water in for the proper humidity levels for hatching chicken eggs. If I didn't describe that very good I can post pics of it, just let me know. It has a fan for circulating air in the incubator, and I've been running it for a while empty and with multiple thermometers I'm reading a few points slightly above 101 in the very center and a low of 97 around the outside edges inside the incubator. Is it working correctly or can it only hatch eggs placed where its reading 99 by placing the eggs is a circular ring in the center. how much fluctuation in temp can chicken eggs experience and still have an acceptable hatch rate. I have no model number on this incubator there is only a sticker that says Hovabator.

nope, just Styrofoam and the hardware cloth insert in the bottom. It has built in troughs for water in the bottom. Maybe I'll have to get a humidity reading tool so I can experiment a little and know for sure.

Hey thanks for the link I found one of the pages when I googled but it wasn't a close enough model, your link was certainly better then what I found. My exact model wasn't on there but I think I found out what I need, keep the one trough full and fill the 2nd for hatch time. Thanks for the help.
