Hova-Bator Model 2362N & Humidity

I'm trying my first attempt at incubation next week! A friend gave me their 2362N to use. I understand the temperature but am confused about humidity. I know where to put the water according to the manual but how do you regulate it and know what percentage you're at? Is there something I should buy to regulate it? And if it is too high, do you just take some water out? I'm very confused on how to keep the humidity regulated.

So I now realize that I need a hydrometer. My question now is how do I adjust the humidity if it is off? The incubator just has a trough at the bottom for water. . . do you simply take some water out?? And add more when it's low?

Taking water out won't help because its the surface area that defines the humidty. I have the same incubator. You can cover part of the water tray with aluminum foil or similar to reduce the surace area water can evaporate from.
That said the trays are designed to be about right just as they are - fill the middle one for days 1-18 (top up every 2-3 days) and both trays for lockdown.

Just a little note that we used to use was to wet sponges..... they hold moisture for days and yet dramatically reduce the humidity due to moisture area, which is where the amount of humidity is derived from.

I've had the incubator on for a few hours not and it's not even at 90 degrees. I keep turning it up A LOT. THe red light isn't on either. . . does it only come on when it reached 100 degrees???

I got the heat working. . . trying to stabilize it at 100. . . and the light is now on
