hovabator 1602N--just got it. any suggestions/tips/opinions?

my son and i just got our hovabator 1602N, which is the base model, with no bell, whistles (or peeps, yet). we are going to attempt to hatch, raise and 'mother' a few backyard chickens. we wanted the whole mothering experience, i guess, so we are going all the way from egg on up with our babies-to-be.

anyone using the same incubator, who might have some tips or tricks to make our percentages higher and our experience more enjoyable?

that was my first ever bator. I had a good hatch filling the small area in the liner half way. then filling both at day 18.
