Hi all,

Well, my only 2 sitting hens (white Chanteclers) decided to take a walk out the field yesterday, and became coyote breakfast.
Leaving 8 eggs to be hatched.
So, I ran out and bought a Hovabator with fan and turner.

Is the thermometer that comes with it accurate?
I ask because, it's reading 105, and the digital I also placed inside is reading 99.

thanks for any help.

Do you have the metal kind you can calibrate? If so use that. Sorry to hear about your girls.

Well, only 4 out of 8 eggs were fertile.
All 4 hatched. One hatched under developed. Weird.
3 looking good.

Remaining hen is laying. 4 more in incubator. All are fertile.
Fingers crossed.
Am trading current 3 for 3 from another flock of White Chanteclers I've found somewhat local.
2hr drive.

yes, I just settled on one being at 100, and the other at 98

What model Hova did you get? The Genesis 1588 is supposed to come calibrated from the factory but I always double check with a thermometer to make sure

I just started a batch with the Hova Bator 1588. So far it is running awesome. I have 2 other thermometers inside that are reading exactly what this one is showing. It regulates itself from 99.7-100.3. So easy. I have 48 eggs placed right now, currently on day 5. I will let everyone know how the hatch turns out.
