I am going into lockdown tonight.
With the central tray filled humidity was around 45%
What is it likely to be with both trays filled?
I know it varies with external humidity but am just wondering if I am likely to need to cover part of the tray or anything (and don't want to have to do so after the turner has come out)
Thanks!

all treys filled, 65 to 70 percent, higher if you had a fan thats my experience. ( we need spell check on here) l.o.l.

I filled them both, but my hygrometer says humidity is 80%.
I already posted a question about it, because I filled both trays when I did lockdown eggs yesterday, and my hygrometer says it is 80%. I asked question about it, some BYCers recommended to remove red plugs, so I did, and it was about 5 hours ago, and my hygrometer still says it is 80%!!
I am going crazy now.
Maybe it is my hygrometer (digital) problem? I am doomed

Hmmm. mine says 55%.
Filled both trays this morning. I was surprised that it was 45% with only the middle tray yet only went up to 55% with both...yet the surface area must have trebled or something

My hygrometer is analog and I did calibrate it with salt and it was reading bang on (to my surprise).
Both my vent plugs are in.

Will leave it a little longer then maybe add a cloth too this evening when I candle before total lockdown (day 18 finishes tomorrow 7am so I have a little bit of headroom to fiddle I think)

ChickFilA, for you, did you calibrate it? Is it too late to cover a bit of tray with aluminum foil or to suck the water out of the smaller tray perhaps?

I am hatching right now and can't get mine to go above 55%. But I am paranoid about the red plugs, I always have at least one out so the eggs/chicks can get air. The outside air is dry now so that is the problem. So far two chicks and day 21 is tomorrow.

Well... I just put my hygrometer into bator as soon as I received it by mail.
At that moment, I even didn't know what is calibrate means

So now I am guessing my hygrometer is not accurate.
I am just in god's hands

I just bought one of those reptile hydrogometers. Its the first time I'm using it it. Has anyone else used these I hope they work right because I have very expensive eggs in bator and I need it to be right. Without going to Meyers to buy one of those expensive. Which will probally happen due to I really want these porcelain D'uccle babies. So someone please tell me these things work.
