Speaking of broody =)

aren't they precious

Boy ain't that the truth, my chickens or ducks would never go near a nest the goose has made but the geese can go in and lay anywhere they want too. lol

How many eggs is she on?

We had one of or local feed stores order us a foursome of embden goslings and when my brother went to pick them up it was her, a dead male gosling and a pair of Africans so he threw a fit and brought just her home. (I personally love Africans but I wasn't there) so I raised her with my day old ducklings who when too messy to stay in my house got moved to a grow out pen of lf juvies where they would all sleep together till I got a gander who would then sleep with her and the ducks every night, so the not sharing is new lol but probably should of seen it coming, the hens were laying there first lol

She layed nine, but I was trying to get more so I put them in the bator and she's on a batch of heavy ducks, but I plan on swapping them for hers at lockdown so she will have her own to raise. So far 8/9 are doing phenomenal just a few more days to go. =)

I'd be real surprised when the gosling hatch that she'll want any ducks near her and most likely the gander either. Look forward to seeing the littles when they hatch.I mean the gander isn't going to want the ducks near he'll be a great papa goose

I have the ducks all separated into breeding groups in their own enclosure now but the one keeps flying out to try and lay in "that nest" but I think my pair will make good parents, not sure if I'll enclose them till the goslings have some heft to them because the wild cats have been chased off but the hawks are back for the season so I'm a bit worried, watched one carry off a half grown barred rock cockerel last year =/

Might want to give the parents and goslings a week or 2 then let them out into more open areas. Sometimes goslings lag behind or get distracted that's when they are vulnerable.Exciting time and worrisome to.

That's basically the plan I use for the ducks to but I'll have too put a short divider across the larger pond pen so they'll have water access and lots of cover till they're large enough to free range =)

So impatient.... no pips yet probably be a few days late had some temp issues, but 8/9 developed and 7 of those I can see movement and or a pulse so fingers crossed hope they hurry up cause momma seems like she's giving up on the nest, but if she does how am I gonna slip them under her... ?
