How Are You Covering Your Chicken Run for Avian Influenza?

Hi there! Wondering how the plastic HD deer netting worked out for you. I'm thinking about doing the same thing, but worry about how it will handle snow. Any advice would be much appreciated!

It’s working great.

About 3 years ago we put up the really fine/thin deer netting just to keep chickens in and out if neighbors yard, so it was put up above the 3’-4’ fence. It tolerated snow and wind fairly well, but we did need to fix it every so often.

This year we removed the old stuff and put up Heavy Duty deer netting -it is much thicker/stiffer than the previous stuff. It is working very well and handles wind better. We still have tacked it up with strips of wood to remove stress on any one piece. And we attached it to the lower part of the chain link with strips of wood and zip ties. The same thing could be achieved with some bungee cords or twine.

The ultimate plan is to replace it with 1x2 welded wire, but for now the deer netting is working.
