My neighbor left out trash for over a Month.
Flies everywhere ! I had to call the board of Health to do something about it and it STILL took 2 more weeks for the trash to go.

This did NOT help with Flies.
I am just starting to see less. Got the "Stink-o-Bag" up and fly strips all over.
Trying to get rid of anything that would house/breed them (old stinky wet hay).

I can't tell if it is a bad year or not because of the circumstance with the trash.

How are you all doing this year? Does it seem bad - better then usual ?

This is my first time ever owning chickens so I can't speak on whether it's worse than normal but they've been awful here where I live (in TN). And they aren't just everyday flies but biting flies. And I found out that they love my ankles which is not fun at all. We've already filled up one disposable fly trap and have 2 more hanging up and that has seemed to help. I just know that it's awful.

First year with chickens and I don't think I've seen a fly in the chicken area yet. I'm sure they are coming but they are not here yet.

Try living next to horses! Flies are plentiful, I use golden malrin fly bait, sprinkle it in a bowl, add a few drops of water and set it where the girls cant get into it or the dead flies. Sweep up and discard all of them,,
I have never seen honey bees after it, or anything but flies. I did just spot a YT vid on using it mixed with soda for coons, I do not do that.
I dont like the hanging sticky strips,,,,or flies.

I am starting to see some fly's but when I think about it I get a fly flap and try to have kill them then give them to the chicken . I see the chicken running after them all the time. sometimes the get them and sometimes the fly gets away

This is my first time ever with chickens and all I can say is holy poop, the flies are out of flipping control!! I live in an urban city in New Jersey, but we only just moved here in March so I don’t know if it’s my chickens that are brining the flies, the weather/year, or just the general uncleanliness of the city. I have pavers in the back yard and hose them down every few days. I clean the chicken coop AND run every 3-4 days. I even clean up poop by poop if I catch them early enough and STILL the flies are everywhere! I have 3 fly traps hanging almost jam packed with dead ones and strips hanging all over, but the flies persist. What the heck man!!! Can anyone offer help?? I’m losing my mind. It’s like Amityville Horor!
