how big a brooder for 20 chicks?
You can start with a smaller brooder with baby chicks... perhaps 3x3' for 20 chicks, with a lamp in one corner. But within about 3 weeks they will outgrow it, and you'll have to move up to larger containment for them.
20 chicks can comfortably stay in a 3 X 3 brooder for about 2 weeks, then you've got to expand. My 25 chicks did well in a 4.5 X 2.5 brooder until they were ready to roam about the coop at 5 weeks. (This is without adult birds present)
