How big a run?

for 6 standard chickens.
The coop is 8x6
I was thinking about 10x6 for the run?

The general rule of thumb for outside run space for standard chickens is 10 sq. feet per chicken.

Obviously, if they free range every day you wouldn't have to have so much space. Again, I always advocate for having more space than less space if possible.

I actually have well over 600 sq. feet of run space for my nine hens and they would sure love to have more on those days they can't free range. (They told me they would like more .. that's how I know that...

)
