Hello! We are getting some day old chicks in a couple weeks :celebrate. I am just curious on how big 3 week old chicks are. I don't know what size EcoGlow heater to get . Could y'all send pictures of your 3 week old chicks- and how much smaller are 3 week old bantams than normal chicks (I am getting 6 bantams and 4 standard chicks). Thanks!

Can anyone post some pictures of their 3 week old chicks (doesn't have to be exactly that age), I would like to know how big they usually are so I can order the EcoGlow brooder! :D

Here are some of my chicks from last year, at exactly three weeks old, with my hand for size comparison:

They get big fast. Brooder plates are the best way to go (vs. heat lamp) but they are expensive to buy. You can make your own cheaply and easily out of a wooden board, a heating pad, and some long bolts with nuts and bungee cords. That's what I use, and I love it! And I can make it big without spending too much money. Here's my DIY brooder plate:

I used this heating pad from Amazon (make sure it has no auto shut off):

These carriage bolts:

And these bungee cords:

Good luck! Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the reply! Those pictures are really helpful and your chicks are adorable! :)

That DIY brooder plate is very clever! I might make something like that instead of buying the brooder plate- thank you so much for the tip :thumbsup
