how big do the nest boxes need to be

12" x 12" is standard dimensions for nest boxes. Try doing a search as there are alot of neat ideas submitted my members.

12 x 12 is too small for my RIRs and BOs. They can't turn around very easily in it. I think it would be find for slightly smaller birds. My boxes are 14 x 14.

Mine are like 11(wide)x12. my girls seem to like them just fine.

I will have to give my support for 12x12x12 nesting box.

We have many nesting boxes that i/ many older people have made and or used.

All hens even the biggest girls love the nest.

It may not be the size but the location,
just a suggestion.
