How big is too big???

So right now I have 30 chicks ranging from 1-6 weeks. We have a contractor friend who is coming next weekend to build for/with us because coop need is iminent! Based on prices for materials, my husband wanted to build an 8x8. I have since added 10 chicks to the brooder - oops! So I started searching for salvage materials to increase the size possibilities without my husband choking on a chicken bone...lol.

Then I went out to meet a guy who was giving away his shed for useable materials. All the wood is in awesome condition and the walls were built in sectioned panels so it won't be hard at all to take apart and piece back together. Just needs some tightening and paint...YAY!

The question however, is how big is too big? This "shed" is more of an outbuilding and is 20'x20' with an attached 8'x10' workroom. Is this more trouble than it's worth? Should I piece it together in smaller sub sections?

Please let me know what you think.

Pics just in case...

I fully understand that this color of paint is terrible especially in this condition. The outer walls are actually plywood with paneled siding style fiberboard on the outside. The bad paint makes it look terrible when the wood itself is in great condition.

The interior has some great log beams above, and the walls seemed to be preframed for little pop doors

IF,
when you are standing inside,
and you call to your birds,
you can hear your own voice echo more than twice,.....

Then it is too big.

otherwise, you just need more chicks!

You already admitted that you added 10 chicks to your flock within the first 6 weeks. At that rate, you could fill up that big shed in no time. You better start looking for something a little bigger : )
