That is exactly what I was going to recommend. If you can make the run more square it's better than a long, narrow run where a bully can dominate a chokepoint.

Also, take into account the standard dimensions of building products.

Here in the US we build in multiples of 4 feet because that's the way lumber comes -- 8 feet, 12 feet, etc. -- with sheet goods always 4x8.

Yeah, but even the minimum varies depending on the bird in my experience. I have some groups that do fine in a pen that other birds the same size and age might not tolerate at all.

My run has 4 birds and is 8 X 16 feet (2.44 meters X 4.88 meters) and so far they are doing fine. I am going to add a fenced area for free ranging.
