How big should the door be?

about what dementions should the chicken door on my coop be? It is for standard size chickens. Please help.

I made mine slightly over 1 x 1 and it is plenty for them to go in and out. I wouldn't go any smaller than that. Just my opinion.

Mine is 12 inches high and 9 inches wide. My buff orpington rooster has no problems getting in and out.

15x15 for me. Has worked great. If you're going to do deep litter, don't forget to cut the hole 9 inches above the floor level so your shavings don't fall out each time you open the door....
