Is 12Wx12Dx14H big enough? I've heard 14Wx12Dx14H, but our coop isn't wide enough to have five 14" nest boxes side by side. Will chickens use nestboxes that are stacked, or will they only use the taller ones?

My nests boxes are 12x12 and stacked. It's metal nesting boxes with two rows of 5 nests. So far they're using them, both top and bottom ones. I have huge white rocks, and they've not had any problem with that size nest. Oh, and I'm not sure how tall they are, but probably about 12''

I made mine 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 because that is all the bigger I could fit ten in on one level..

My muscovy ducks and Royal Palm turkeys use the so I think most any sized chicken could also.. my chickens are Buff Orpingtons..

I also have a two row 2 high metal set of nests.. the turkey also lays in that one when there are no clucks in it..

chickens will go to both heights..
