So...I need to finance a new chicken coop, and it may end up being quite expensive. I can offer my parents about $400 upfront, they owe me about $175 of allowance which I'll just not claim and we can count it toward the total, I"ll forgo all allowance for the foreseeable future, which is about $315 a year, I'll do some work and chores, but I really just need ways to earn more money that I can put toward the cause. This is most likely about $700-$3000, so I need to figure out how to earn a lot. I can't just spend all of my spending money because I am also financing most of the cost for baby chicks in the spring. My parents will probably pay for some of it but I don't know how much. I need ideas! Help!

How many do you plan on keeping? This seems really expensive. We built a coop for way less and I keep 30 hens. Could it be a possibility that you are over-estimating the cost, because this seems like you would have enough.

Only keeping 8-9. I do not know very well about building costs, but some things we would have to rent, like some heavy duty power tools, some things we have to ship for tons of money, etc. Parents may also go for this option, to save time and me struggling to build on my own.: https://www.mypetchicken.com/catalo...en-Coop-Plus-Run-up-to-20-chickens-p1790.aspx

Mowing lawns, raking soon, shoveling snow, cleaning others’ coops, cleaning up gardens (weeding, pulling finished plants...), picking apples...
I hadn't thought of weeding other people's gardens! Sometimes my mom pays me to do ours. Most people near me have lawn companies do their lawns, but raking and snow shoveling are both great ideas. There aren't a lot of other chicken owners near me, but I will see about cleaning coops!

If you like children, playing outside is pretty safe, and oh my goodness, will parents want to pay you to tire their children out!
Oh, walking dogs too.
I do enjoy playing with children! New neighbors just moved in with a young daughter and I have been trying to figure things out with them. Walking dogs is also a great idea! I'll look into it.

You could also try Craigslist or I have this thing called nextdoor - it's an app. Always odd jobs on both of those. Check Craigslist on "gigs". Help an old lady move, sort out boxes, mow a lawn, watch a dog for the weekend...etc. I see all of that on there. The other day a woman offered to pay $100 for a day of yard work help. Also, we own a dog kennel, but there are a lot of people who are looking for people to let their dogs out during the day while they are at work. You could advertise this service.

Keep bio security in mind if you clean others coops.
