How can can I stop a HEN from crowing?

I just adopted a hen from the humane society and she appears to be 2 years or older. I have 3 other hens for her to socialize with. She is very dominant and crows each morning at 5:30am! She does lay an egg every day. I live in a suburban neighborhood so I am sure this will be a problem. It is really loud. Any reccomendations.on how to get her to stop?

well you have a butch hen then, this happens when the hormones get mixed up/ she took on the rooster role in a large group of hens. try boxing her up at night ( as in in a crate/ box etc) so that you can let her out in the daylight but so that she doesn't crow before hand. the box will have to have ventaliation but be dark, very dark . we have found that it seems to work. otherwise put in a door/ flap so that everyone stays in the dark asleep until you say so and then let them out when its a more sutiable time aka not 5.30 am
