This is a used coop we intend to modify. We have a large run built all surrounding it.
I REALLY want to use a deep litter method, so what do I need to do to the coop? Should I keep the floor plywood, other wood or something else? Build a bigger lip around the bottom, obviously, but what about the top half? (Its mostly a wire floor, some plywood)

If you mean "get heat-producing composting going on", you just can't in that size coop.

If you mean "have litter that is deepish and does not get changed real frequently", make the floor all primed-and-painted plywood, have LOTS of ventilation open but build a large overhanging roof to keep rain from blowing in, add a sill that is maybe a foot high, and just play it by ear. Adding a droppings board that you clean every morning would help extend bedding life too.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
