I have 6 six week old ducks. Three KC and 3 swedish, 2 blue 1 black. I want to be able to sex them myself and I was wondering what to look for. Color, feathers, size, ect.. Is it too early or do I have to wait till they molt for the first time? Please help a duck newbie.

I have heard this before but I would like to know how to tell by color. I have heard that with kc drakes have orange legs but I don't know if this is true

Alot of breeds you cant tell by the coloring, only by voice(or vent sexing if you know how to)
On some strains of Blue Swedish ducks you can tell by the bill color, but thats not always the case. Girls= blue Boys=green

With campells, the males are suppose to have orange feet and the females brown, but again, thats not always true.

Mine just went through their first molt and they are about 11 weeks old. What I thought all along were surely female, changed almost overnight to male. Kind of dissapointing since I am all about the eggs. I also wanted to vent sex them, but after thinking long and hard thought it would be too stressful for them. Good luck! I know, the waiting makes you crazy!

I too am wanting eggs. After trying to listen to them, I think I will be very sad about the eggs. I only heard one that I was pretty sure was "quacking" That means 5 drakes.

I guess I will have to wait till the feather swap to be sure.

I have two Khaki Cambells and two Black Swedish. They are eight weeks old. I am hearing ONE Quack from a black Swedish.

One of the Khaki's have a greener beak and the other is black. Could this be one drake? Please, Please, Please! I am wanting eggs too. To eat and Fertile will be great.

Trying to think Positive but could I be lucky enough to have two girls and two boys of each?
