I have two 5 week old chicks that are terrified of me, I tried to socialize them but clearly was not successful. Any good thoughts on earning their trust? Super tasty treat reccomemdations maybe? I don't expect them to be friendly...but I'd like if they would take treats from me!

Hm, they are "Americana", so EE.
So, it depends on the breed really and how you handle them. I had 7 babies which are now 3 months old and my hybrids don't really seem to like me. But I have 1 swedish flower hen which still sits in my lap.. And flowers are known to be friendly so I think that is why. Depends on the personality too, some may just be cuddly and others may like to be left alone. It should also be taken as a fact that, if you raise them from a very young age, they should be friendlier towards you when they grow up (I really don't know about this but it always happened to me, whoever I raise from a young age, grows up to be friendly with me).

I changed my brooder design from one I reach down into to one they see me coming and I’m interacting on the horizontal with them. Seems to have helped

1. Don't chase them.
2. Sit quietly near them. Let them approach you, if and when they want to.
3. Accept the fact that they may never do so.
4. Realize that their avoidance and shyness does not mean that they don't "like" you. Rather, it's natural and necessary for their survival to avoid large moving creatures that may wish to eat them.
5. Just enjoy being near them and watching their antics. We call it "chicken tv."
