How can I get my freerange girls get in their coop?

Any help with this? These are new hens to us. We took them Because they were being pick on.

You might want to think about thinning out the roosters. Too many and they will fight constantly and over breed your hens. I had about as many as you do and it was a mess, constant fighting. I put all but one in the freezer and now him and my 9 pullets have quite a peaceful life. They don't even fight as much with him in the coop. "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens" is a pretty good book. You might want to get a copy. It has answered a lot of my questions.

Good luck! :)

Hey, come on over to the "fermenting feed for meat birds" thread. There are a lot of people there with a lot more experience than me AND the first step will be getting some real good feed in the birds - fermented feed. It will make a huge difference in them!

Happy Hen Treat (freeze dried meal worms) works magic. Start by introducing them to it in the coop in the morning before you let them out & when they come in at night, they'll love it. Then put some in another plastic container but don't over fill, shake the container when they are around but in the coop, sprinkling some as you do. They associate the sound and will come running. Mine see me pick up the container and come running, I give them (in the coop) in the morning before I let them out & again when it's "bedtime", they're usually waiting for me at the coop for "bedtime". I condition chicks from the start with mealworms, they love it.
