How can I get rescue chickens?

I've read about rescue chickens, and I was wondering how you can receive them and raise them.

You can go to factories on certain days and rescue ex-battery hens.

You might check with the members on your state thread to see if any of them know of a commercial hatchery in your general area:find-your-states-thread.270925

Maybe some place like that would let you have/buy them once they are ready to be rid of them.

What kind of 'rescues' are you interested in?

I've got a couple here you could 'rescue' as I am about to wring(not literally-tho tempting) her neck she's such a trouble maker.

I dunno, not a booboo hatchery might get rid of old breeder birds....eggery is more likely tho.

Local humane society, Craig's list? Do you already have birds of your own? If so, and you bring in birds from outside sources, especially "rescue situations" you run the very real risk of bringing a lethal/forever disease into your flock or onto your property. While it's admirable to seek to rescue birds, I would never consider doing so because of the risk to the birds that I now have a responsibility to.

I saw an add on craigslist that was from the humane society. They have an application you fill out and the cost of the birds.
