How can I get them in our newly Raised Up Coop?

I want to thank everyone for the good advise, tonight will be the 4th night, wish us luck  -                 I'll post results later~ :)

I don't know if it's possible with your coop, but I used a small wattage light and had it set to come on about a hour before dark and go off about an hour after dark. When it starts getting dark outside they will go toward the light. Only takes about three or four nights of them doing this before they get the hang of it. I know there are battery operated lights out there for those that don't have power at their coop.

That's so funny - mine were the exact opposite! I did what you did with the light (timed the same way you did). My silly girls didn't seem get the message that it was bed time. I tried the coop light for a few nights, then gave up. The first night I took the light away and let it get dark naturally it was like the light bulb went off in THEIR heads, lol! Now they march themselves into the coop about 20 minutes before it gets totally dark and holler for me to come close the door.

Chickens are so funny!

I noticed they seemed to be hesitating stepping out onto the shinny surface of our home-made ladder, so I painted the ladder with a mixture of about 1/2 cup of paint & 1/2 cup course sand, plus added 5 extra ladder cross pieces. They like the ladder now & walk with confidence up & down,
(instead of flying out in the morning.)
