How can I prevent frost bite while keeping their combs clean?

I know this seems like a weird question but my flock of two chickens have started to get frost bite. It's really mild. Only like 2 dots on each comb. I put some ointment on their combs but then they got it dirty. How can I prevent frost bite while keeping their combs clean?

#1 It's almost impossible to keep a chicken clean. #2 Is your coop well ventilated; a humid coop can cause frostbite. If your walls are frosted over in the morning you need more ventilation. #3 They might learn to put their heads under each other or under a wing. Good luck.

Best to leave hands off before and especially after frostbite.
No magic potion will prevent frostbite, and can possibly make it worse.

No, it will be a pointless battle. You’re best not putting anything on it at all, and fix the ventilation in your coop

Vaseline or ointments can actually cause frostbite due to the liquid content in the rubs.

Like others have suggested, give your coop more ventilation to make it less humid, but keep it from being drafty as drafts can cause sick birds.
