how can I tame a gote.

Omran.. is the buck living with the girls?
If you plan to drink the goats milk...the milk will taste bad if the doe goats are living with the buck, because the bucks have a strong musk scent...
I would keep them FAR apart if you want to drink the milk.... unless you want babies...

thank you redhen, yes for now they are together, but I don't know if I even can milk a boer goat or not, I might get the babies and then take your advise and get some alpine for milk, infact I run out of fund to build more fences this year, because I already had to spend about $1500 for 800' of fencing:D
but please give me all the info I need to be able to trais goats, because this is all very new to me.
thank you.

I would really suggest you sign up with www.backyardherds.com. I'm over there, too, and there's a TON of goat people willing and ready to help you raise your goats. There's a few really good boer goat owners as well as dairy goat owners (such as myself

Your buck can and will breed with your does at 5 mos old. You should either wether him if you don't want babies or separate him and get him a buddy - either another buck or a wether - NO DOES. As he gets older he will get more smelly and dirty when he comes into rut. If you've run out of funds due to the fencing you put up already, you should invest in a 12x12 dog kennel (around here costs about $250) for a temporary pen for him - be sure he's got shelter (as all your goats should have) and access to hay and fresh water 24/7. Bucks don't require the same type of grain that does do; some bucks don't require any grain at all assuming they have access to alfalfa hay and free choice minerals.

TREATS TREATS TREATS .. Once they get close enough scratch between the horns and under thier chins .. Couple times of that and they will be following you around like a puppy...
