This is my first time hatching. Can anyone post some candling pictures of eggs that aren't viable? Or post a link to some good examples? I think I have 1 or 2 quitters but it's hard to tell from the few pictures I've been able to find

What day are they at?
I've had a few quitters. They usually have a blood ring or they just look really off. Most of my dead ones started looking a little brown and grey with no red veins through the egg and just kinda sloshed around im there -really just gross looking blegh! Not sure why it happens but it does: (
My first try I thought a few were dead when the air sack seemed to be getting bigger and it was mostly black... but it hatched the next day so I felt like an idiot haha

This looks a bit like the ones Ive had. No veins no movement and just kinda greyish brown. If it's red it's alive unless it's a blood ring

Early quitter you will see a distinct blood ring usually. More developed embryos you will notice the lack of veining, usually a free floating black spot, or mass (when you turn the egg the contents turn freely as well.) In more advanced development when the chick takes up the majority of the egg it is harder to tell and my theory is if it doesn't stink, leave it in.

Thank you! Tonight will be day 6. I have a bunch that seem to be clears, a handful that look healthy, and one that think is a quitter with a dark mass in the middle, but the shell color makes it hard to tell if there's any veining. I'll see if it floats freely tonight.
