So I noticed that my flock has some lice and I wondered how I can treat that without using potentially harmful chemicals or doing an egg withdrawal (my family really needs these eggs right now). I've heard of permethrin or however you spell it, but I'm not super comfortable using that. Any naturally-based treatments I can use?

Thanks for your time!

In wintertime during cold weather the permethrin dust is preferred, to prevent them getting wet and chilling. The 2 usual brands in feed stores are Prozac and Gardstar, which you can add to a sock and dust like a powder puff all over the skin. Martins or Gordons permethrin 10 concentrate (must be mixed with water 5 ml (1 tsp) per quart or 20 ml per gallon of water) may be preferred for use in nest boxes, on the roosts, and in the coop after all bedding is removed and taken far away. You can spray about 15 ml of the diluted permethrin on the chicken on the skin during warm weather. The 8 ounce concentrate is under $12 and will make gallons to be used in spray bottle or garden sprayer. Lice hatch every 10 days, so you should treat at least twice at 10 day intervals.
