Hi! I know this is a bit strange but I just hatched my first set of ducklings from our mama ducks outside! Some our Rouen/ a little bit of mallard and a tiny bit of pekin. I say a little bit because the mamas we have outside, parents was a pekin drake. Sadly, something got him about 2 years. The mamas outside have been through several hatches and no white ducks...
Just wondering when I incubated, how did I hatch out two solid white/yellow ducks? Just a bit bazaar to me. I guess the genes passed on. Anyone else have this happen? So cool to me!
Also, another hatching question. I did some research about crested ducks .. I thought they were just a breed but I found out why these ducks have a “poof” so to speak! 😂 but I have a baby that still has a poof 24 hours after hatching! Does that mean he/she will be crested? I’m so new to this, research is all I know! Attached is a pic of the two pekin ducks.

Are your hens in a run or free range? If they are in a run, how big is your run?

I have two acres of pond on our property and all my chickens/ducks are free range! Not much experience keeping them mixed in a run! But I do know that they do not have to have a pond to survive! A man-made pond or swimming pool will suffice but if you have a tiny run, two VERY messy ducks can keep it really messy! Now if you have a big run or an area that your ducks can wonder, that is better suited! I love ducks and their personalities are the best! Good luck!

Yep! A kiddie pool will work! You will have to replace water in the pool each day cause they make it really messy but yes it is definitely possible! All of our new baby ducks start in a kiddie pool , don’t need much bigger. Make sure you buy ducks in pairs!
