how can you tell a hen is about to/ready to lay?

My 3 girils are 5months and i am wondering how to tell when they will lay.

Their combs will turn a darker red. What kind of chickens do youu have? It seems they should be ready soon.

Their combs get a darker or brighter red, their feet turn a brighter yellow, if they have yellow feet, and they start practicing setting on a nest. Oh, and my mature rooster, pimp daddy started mounting them, and they sit down for him. He never bothered them before now. My pullets are 20 weeks old, and 3 of them are laying pullet eggs.
