How do Guineas do in winter weather? I have a heater on their water, they have access to their coop as well as several barns, and there is a heat lamp on in their coop from 4 pm to 8 pm. There are 8 of them , and they were born late july. They can free range daily, and have been very good cooping up in the evening. My question is do they get frost bite? Will they know enouh to stay out of the weather or coop up if it gets too bad? Or should i just keep them in when when the temps drop below 20 ? I do undestand they wont go out much in the snow..so i hear....i live in south west pa. Thanks all!

I also live in southwestern PA and mine do fine in the winter. They will go out in the snow and it does not bother them. They go into an unheated coop at night and have water available at all time. During the day they can go down to our pond (it comes from an underground spring and does not freeze over) to take a drink. Just make sure you give them a feed that is higher in protein during the winter and a little cracked corn (do not over do it) so they can put on some extra fat. Also, make sure they can get back into their coop at any time in case they want to get out of the wind or snow. Do not worry, they will be fine.
