I still have my BBW. Lately when I let her out to roam around sometimes when I go near her she sets down on the ground, wings slightly out and touching the ground and just sort of cowers there and starts heavy breathing and doing a little shake. She never did this all last year, it's a new thing. I love her so much I'm scared to death there is something wrong with her and I'm going to lose her. One night I couldn't get her up and I had to pick her up and carry her to the cage which was no small feat, she's a big bird.

She is squatting for you! She needs a man, baby!

Turkeys are getting prepared to breed at this time of the year in the wild. Maybe she wasn't sexually mature last year at this time? Maybe she is just flushing with a little more hormones this year...whatever the reason, she just wants to breed.

I feel your pain. I have 2 hens, one is laying eggs and the other isn't. The one laying eggs isn't "cowering" and the one with no eggs yet is.

It is so frustrating.
