Someone in my flock laid a HUGE egg yesterday and it was a double yolker. They are all just starting to lay in the past couple of weeks so I don't know if it was someone's first or another hens second egg. It was massive compared to a grocery store egg or any other eggs we've gotten. I've heard that some chickens always lay double yolkers and sometimes it is just a flook ????

When my BA started laying, she had A LOT of double yolkers. It seemed like every other one was a double. It lasted for say 3 weeks or so. Like her body had to work itself out. But the eggs were not huge. But you'd crack the larger ones and it was 2.

When my flock first started to lay..i got alot...

I had a partridge rock that laid double every day and one day she laid an egg with three yolks and our local paper printed the picture.

Double yolkers are pretty common in hens starting to lay. I worked in a commercial broiler hatchery and when flocks came in to production there would be lots of them. The older they got the less DYs they laid.

I feel like mine are cheating me -- of the 4 that are laying over 3 months, one laid ONE double-yolker ONCE.

I'm getting stiffed!
