At the begining of the summer when it started getting hot my egg production dropped way off. I was getting an average of 11-13 eggs a day from my 18 hens, but now I'm getting 2-3 eggs a day. I have 7 N.H. Reds, 4 Amerucanas, and 7 Buff Orphingtons. The reds are 3 years old, everything else is 2 years old. Does anyone have an idea as to how cool it will need to get before regular production picks back up?

With the cooler weather my girls are molting which really hurts production. Could your girls be molting? When mine started I switched to grower for the extra protein to help them grow new feathers and it seemed to help the laying too.

Well if it's molting they've been doing it all summer long. I hadn't thought about trying the grower. I'll try that and see what happens.
