How could I get a duck broody?

Ahh...My old buff hen was the MEANEST(!!) broody, lol...i had to check on the eggs/babies sometimes because the geese would poke around in it when she was off & then while they were hatching....i went away with plenty of purple pinch marks on my hands those days. excellent mommas though.

So you think if I gave one of my broodiesh mallards a secluded spot like a dog house with a nice full nest of eggs she might set on them or if she does have a favorite nesting site and I let here keep on laying eggs there until she starts going broody then cover her up with some type of shelter to keep preditors away thanks guys/gals.

If you plan on moving her, do that first and see where she lays (probably in the dog house anyway) but after you find her spot you could probably place some eggs there and see if she takes them.
