How could you put a living creature on clearance?

I agree that does sound mean. Although I am kinda picky. I'm mad because my school is trying to earn money by auctioning off a puppy

. That just pisses me off I'm sorry because they would have money if they didn't keep building big fancy new buildings that we DONT need. They can afford to build those but cant afford to fix up the bathrooms a bit by fixing stall doors and adding air fresheners and stuff. Anyways that isn't right. to me its the same as auctioning the puppy.

A few years ago when the chicken thing became popular, our local TSC couldn't keep chicks in the store for more than 6 hours ... seriously. Once chicks came in they were gone in 6 hours, people were waiting outside the doors for open.

Now, they learned their lesson and get 6 tankfuls of chicks. Like any stock, it's a balancing act of what to order vs. actual purchase. When I worked at McDonalds and we ordered perishable food, this was always a challenge too.

In the meantime, those of us who can take care of excess birds can do well from it.

I know petstore put fish, birds ect on clearence to find them a home faster, I donèt think itès wrong I have a large tank full og hermit crabs I bought from walmart when they closed thier pet section, .50 crabs:)

I would rather they put them on clearance--it may just convince someone to buy more than they had originally planned.

It is heartbreaking some of the conditions we see these animals in at stores, but it is what it is. It is sad seeing all those babies trudging around in 4" of matted down poo, Butthe luxury goes to us having the ability to pick and choose what we want out of those tubs. I always pick more than I should, and sometimes I get the weaker ones, and sometimes they give them to me for free. It just makes me feel better knowing that the ones I picked will be happy and I just hope the others find good homes too.

Umm, I don't see a problem with lowering the price in order to get these ducklings & chicks out to their new homes faster. Our local feed store does that when they've miscalculated and ordered more than will sell out in a short time. And that's not hard to do, it's difficult to predict your market with complete accuracy. Sometimes they sell out of their chicks & ducklings within a few days, other times it takes them a week or more. And the older they get, the more they eat, poop & smell. Especially the ducks. I think there's even some regulations our feed store must mind concerning the sale of older chicks, after a certain age they're not allowed to sell them. So the best they can do is to price them lower and try to move them out faster.

I LOVE CHICKS ON CLEARANCE !!!! I get all I can at half price..around here the cornish cross are normaly $.99..and starting in ohhh..late june I start getting them for half off..bought 1 month old turkeys one year for $4 each..

Maybe if they didn't have "laws" where you had to buy 12 or more in one shot, there wouldn't be so many left over! If I was able to, I probably would've picked up a few ducklings and give it a shot! However, I wouldn't even think about 12!

I've determined that TSC isn't in the chick selling business to sell chicks, they are in the chick selling business to sell chick supplies. What better way to sell the food, waterers, feeders, heat lamps than to have all the super cute little chicks. It's a one-stop shop. We all know that there is no profit in the mark-up for chicks, at least very little.

I've seen a couple TSC's that were horrible conditions, then one that was awesome. I guess with a tub full of 100+ chicks, it can get cruddy real fast.

My TSC is sold out I called just five minutes ago and I asked if they would be getting anymore in they said NO! they woulds not be

that is such good news that they are sold out and not getting anymore in because I don't need to sit here and worry about the chicks not getting sold and haveing to wonder what will come of them when chick days is over.
