How dark are black marans eggs?

I was just wondering because pdsavage gave me to black marans cockerels. I am starting to think that one of them may be a hen.

It will depend upon the strain. All Marans are supposed to have dark eggs, it is a characteristic of the breed.

Mine laid a decent dark egg. This is how they first looked. They got darker later on, then they got infectious bronchitis and their eggs went light tan. Here is how they used to look. Now the look like a weak RIR egg.
