I have a barred rock rooster I need to rehome. I don't want him to be slaughtered or to have to send him to be fed to the eagles. He's a super sweet boy. But Barred Rocks are super common so I don't know if anyone would be willing to take him. I know people loved BR hens but do people love BR roosters? I'm just kind of asking on here for peoples opinions on whether or not someone might want a BR rooster. Are BR roosters desirable? Does he have a chance to find a home not in an eagles tummy?

You can only try.

I know I would take a BR rooster - if I didn't have a full house already.

Hope you can find the little guy a home.
Thank You I am trying my best! Still holding out hope someone will take him 🤞 He hasn't started crowing or trying to show dominance to my big rooster so as long as he's not causing trouble I will keep looking!

There is no simple answer to your question. Much depends on where you live, what kind of market there is for roosters, his personality, and many other things. Unfortunately, once he leaves your place, he is no longer your bird and you have no say as to what will become of him.
I am aware of that. I know as long as I try to find him a home I am doing all I can. If I find him a home and he causes trouble where ever he is I know I have no say in what happens, or even any reason to know. If he is causing trouble they have every right to slaughter him. There are to many good roosters looking for homes to deal with a bad one.

It's tough going rehoming most roosters simply because most flocks don't need any or only need one. You might want to try joining a local FB poultry group or locate a Barred Rock fan group/association that might be able to help you rehome him.

If you do list on social media make sure to take lots of flattering photos and upsell his good points. Maybe someone with a hobby flock is looking for the perfect little guy and yours could be it!

It’s a tough place to be in, trying to find a home for a cockerel. I do hope you find a good one for him
